The action is part of Americas Amigas ' activities to reduce breast cancer mortality in Brazil. The van will travel through municipalities in Greater São Paulo and offer free breast cancer detection and diagnosis exams for women in situations of social vulnerability. 

The month of October is globally known for spreading the Pink October, movement of information and awareness about breast cancer. The Non Governmental Organization Americas Friends, among its many actions for the cause, will promote throughout the month the campaign Women Friends in Pink Octoberdonating mammography exams, ultrasound and biopsy to women who will be assisted in the Mobile Unit of the Campaign.

"The objective of this campaign is to help women to undergo mammography exams and thus have access to early diagnosis of breast cancer, which increases the chances of cure by up to 95%", highlights Andréa Da Veiga Pereira, President of the NGO.

The campaign promoted by Américas Amigas is sponsored by Droga Raia and supported by the Fundação Instituto de Pesquisa e Estudo de Diagnóstico por Imagem (FIDI), GE Healthcare, Dr. Consulta, DB Patologia, Dasa, Fleury Group, Konimagem, Patrocínio Cancer Hospital and Unifesp, in addition to Tenda Atacado, Arprex, Centro Empresarial de São Paulo and Gol Linhas Aéreas. 

Around 60 to 70 mammograms per day will be offered and around 2,000 women will be assisted until the end of the campaign. The registration of those interested should be done on the Américas Amigas website, www.americasamigas.org.br. 

Women selected to undergo examinations in the van will receive e-mail and WhatsApp from Américas Amigas with confirmation of the location and time, as well as guidance on documents and previous exams that must be taken on the date of service. The mammography report will be released on the same day and, if any change is identified, the woman will be referred to laboratories, clinics and partner hospitals for further tests, also free of charge.
