Women Friends Campaign - Pink October 2019

Held as part of Américas Amigas' activities in the "Olhar do Bem 2109" campaign, the "Mulheres Amigas no Outubro Rosa" (Women Friends in Pink October) action took place from October 1 to 31 in municipalities in Greater São Paulo and provided mammography and diagnostic ultrasound exams for 1,865 socially vulnerable women, as well as providing consultations and biopsies for the necessary cases. The services provided by the Mobile Unit of the Dr. José Figueiredo Cancer Hospital in Patrocínio were carried out with funds from Droga Raia's "Change Collection Program". The action also relied on partnerships, support and the work of volunteers, who were fundamental to the success of the campaign and the record number of women treated.

ALL THE WOMEN HAD THEIR EXAMS GRADED AND DELIVERED ON THE SAME DAY AS THEIR VISIT TO THE CART

Ultrasound to clarify the diagnosis helped ensure that no report was issued with an inconclusive result (Bi-rads zero); Women with reports (Bi-rads 3) were instructed to go to the BHU where they receive care and present the examination and report to the Primary Care doctor; Cases that required consultation with mastologists and/or biopsies (Bi-rads 4 and Bi-rads 5) were referred to partner services (UNIFESP, FLEURY and EINSTEIN). Five of the 41 patients referred underwent biopsies at public referral hospitals;

Confirmed cases of breast cancer were referred for treatment via the Hebe Camargo Network.
