Friendly Americas

Founded in 2009, Américas Amigas is a Civil Society Organization (OSCIP) and Human Rights Promotion Entity that fights breast cancer. Its mission is to promote the reduction of breast cancer mortality in Brazil for the socially vulnerable population through awareness, information and access to early detection and diagnosis of the disease.
How it started

Our fight against Breast Cancer

Born from the union of Brazilians and Americans who realized the urgency of developing a project to help this population, today we are many and totally committed to bringing information, access to health and hope to thousands of women.

Our actions are based on three main pillars:

- Equipment and supplies donation program;
- Capacity building and training program;
- Test donation program

These three pillars are permeated by initiatives to raise awareness and provide information about the disease. From 2009 to the present, the NGO Américas Amigas has donated 23 mammography machines, benefiting 16 Brazilian states.
Today we are proud to have as partners physical and legal entities that embrace our cause and help us save lives by promoting early detection and diagnosis of the disease which, if discovered at an early stage, has up to a 95% chance of being cured.

In partnership with the Cancer Hospital of Patrocínio Dr. José Figueiredo (MG), the NGO Américas Amigas has taken the opportunity of early detection of breast cancer to women in several Brazilian states by means of a mobile unit.

In addition, through its Training and Capacity Building Program, the Association has offered more than 35,000 hours of training to professionals working in the field of cancer in public and philanthropic institutions across the country and, thanks to its Test Donation Program, Américas Amigas has made it possible for Brazilian women in situations of social vulnerability to have early detection and diagnosis of the disease.

Mission

Acting nationwide in favor of reducing breast cancer mortality among the socially vulnerable population, promoting accurate information, awareness and access to prevention, detection and early diagnosis of the disease.

Vision

To be a national reference CSO in the early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer, combining access and care with technological innovations that contribute to reducing mortality among socially vulnerable people.
