Therefore, it is essential to follow up with a doctor and undergo exams such as mammography, an exam that can detect the disease in its early stages.
Another form of prevention is knowing the main early symptoms of breast cancer.
So, stay tuned for our tips from now on!
This post is not a substitute for visiting the doctor!
The following tips serve as a warning for you to seek a doctor, should you notice one or more of the changes that will be mentioned, right?
The diagnosis is given by a professional, after a series of tests such as mammography and ultrasound for example.
Know now the 4 initial symptoms of breast cancer
1 - Skin alterations
Redness, swelling, pain or a warm sensation on the skin of your breasts, even if you do not feel a lump when you touch your breast.
The skin may also become thickened or scabby and sore. Another symptom can be persistent itching in the breast area. Or even a hardening of the skin, which can have a texture similar to that of an orange peel.
2 - Swelling in one of the breasts
Breast cancer can cause swelling in the breast affected by the disease. The swelling can even reach the arm and armpit. When you notice these signs it is important to see a doctor.
3 - Breast pain
The beginning and the development of breast cancer may also cause pain in the region. However, it is important to remember that not all discomfort is a sign of the disease.
In case of pain, note the frequency, insistence and intensity of what you are feeling. Report this to the doctor during the consultation, to help him/her reach a more precise diagnosis.
4 - Breast secretions
Another observation point that can indicate the beginning of breast cancer is the presence of secretion in the nipples.
Other common changes in the breast at the onset and development of cancer are:
● Changes in size;
● Changes in shape;
● Emergence of an asymmetry between the breasts;
● The appearance of furrows (areas of the breast which become deeper, like 'holes').
If you detect any of these symptoms, the best thing to do is to seek medical help and have the tests recommended.
The main tip is to pay attention to your own body:
● Visit the gynaecologist once a year;
● Have regular check-ups;
● Observe your breasts in the bath and when changing clothes;
● Don't be afraid to touch your own breast to get to know it;
● Do a self-exam at least once a month, but be sure to visit your doctor and get an annual mammogram;
● Take moments to look after yourself;
● Respect your body;
● Love yourself!
