Delboni Auriemo launches campaign for mammography donation in Pink October
São Paulo, October 2016 - Delboni Auriemo Medicina Diagnóstica announces the launch of a social campaign in the traditional "Pink October", a worldwide awareness month about the importance of early diagnosis of breast cancer. For each 50 shares in its fanpage (
) of posts related to the campaign, Delboni will donate a mammogram to the NGO Américas Amigas, a non-governmental organization which fights for the reduction of the number of deaths caused by breast cancer in Brazil, especially among the low income population. The campaign will start with 250 mammographies already donated, and may reach up to a thousand procedures.
Besides the exams, the campaign will feature pieces involving Brazilian celebrities who will wear the Delboni Auriemo Pink October shirt. "The objective is to show that the celebrities also have the same routine of prevention as all the others, after all, they also need and must take care of themselves", affirms Ricardo Medina, Delboni's marketing director. Among the celebrities who star in the campaign are Ana Maria Braga, Neymar, Zico, Paolla Oliveira, Preta Gil, Márcio Atalla, among others.
"Mammography is fundamental for the early detection of breast cancer when performed in women without signs and symptoms of the disease, in an age range in which there is a favorable balance between the benefits and risks of such practice (screening mammography)", affirms Dr. Flora Finguermann, radiologist responsible for the Delboni Mammography Department. According to the physician, the recommendation is that women between 50 and 69 years of age undergo mammography every two years. "This is also the routine adopted in most of the countries that have implemented breast cancer screening and had an impact on the reduction of mortality for this disease", she reinforces.
Breast cancer is the second main cancer among women. The mammogram is the most important examination to detect breast cancer in its early stages. When identified at this stage, the chances of cure are as high as 95%.
"It is a great satisfaction for us to count on Delboni to offer access to the examination to women who perhaps would not have this opportunity. This year's campaign is special because it is collaborative, and even those who cannot help financially can help by sharing on their social networks. Américas Amigas' fight against breast cancer happens all year round, but, although there is a lot of talk about breast cancer in October, many women still do not know the importance of mammography and early detection for cure. That's why we are very happy when we can carry out actions like this, which impact so positively on the lives of many people, giving them a chance at life", says Francisca de Paula Harley, president of Américas Amigas.
