São Paulo, October 2016 - Americas Amigas, an NGO that fights for the reduction of mortality from breast cancer, launches on October 5 the 2016 edition of the Olhar do Bem Campaign, which seeks to change the way people look at breast cancer and show the importance of awareness and the mammography exam for early diagnosis of the disease and, consequently, increase the chances of cure. The campaign's brand is the pink glasses to generate, in addition to engagement in social networks, donations that will revert to the cause.
As in 2015, the campaign has the participation of several celebrities, such as the former athlete Hortência and presenters Daniela Albuquerque and Ticiane Pinheiro, to take the pink message to thousands of Brazilians. This year, the NGO invites people to transform the "Look for the Good" into an "Action for the Good". Through the campaign website, it is possible to contribute to the cause and help the initiatives developed by the NGO throughout the year, including the donation of mammography devices and mammography exams to low-income women, as well as training and capacity-building for mammography professionals in various regions of the country.
In addition to marking the beginning of Pink October 2016, the NGO also celebrates other extremely important achievements: 500,000 mammography exams performed in 23 hospitals in different regions of the country and 16,000 hours of training and capacity-building for health professionals. Since its creation, more than 440,000 women have benefited from Americas Amigas' actions.
