Social Civic Action performs 224 mammograms in a Brazilian Navy Ship
During Women's Month, between 6 and 18 March 2020, the Auxiliary Ship Pará, of the Brazilian Navy, carried out another Civic Social Action (Aciso), providing services and performing 224 mammography exams in women from riverside communities of Porto Moz, Santarém and Altar do Chão.
The offer of mammography for women living on the Pará and Amazon rivers takes place on the Auxiliary Ships Pará and Dr. Montenegro, whose interior is equipped with a mammography device donated by the NGO Américas Amigas. In addition to conducting exams, the Acisos also provide medical and dental care to these communities.
The commander of the Pará Auxiliary Ship, Corvette Captain Airton Ribeiro Costa, reported that in the year 2018 1,043 mammography exams were performed on board the Ship and that the goal is to expand these actions by taking medical care and mammography to more and more riverside women.
Pink October is coming, be a company that saves lives
This international movement goes beyond a simple campaign; it is a global mobilization that seeks to raise awareness and educate the population about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer, a disease that, when detected in time, has great chances of treatment and cure.
The "Women Friends in Pink October" action took place from October 1st to 31st in municipalities in Greater São Paulo and provided mammography and diagnostic ultrasound exams for 1,865 socially vulnerable women.
