In another Civic and Social Action (ACiSo), from 8 to 24 May, the Auxiliary Ship Pará, of the Brazilian Navy, provided assistance to the inhabitants of Ajuruxi, Ariramba, among other communities with difficult access in the state of Macapá. During the action, 100 mammography exams were performed, with one referral for biopsy and one case of breast cancer diagnosed.
This and other actions have been made possible through the two mammography devices donated by AméricasAmigas to the Brazilian Navy Ships (Auxiliary Ship Pará and Ship Montenegro) that provide medical care to the riverside populations of Amazonas and Pará.
Complexo do Alemão is located in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro, is made up of fifteen communities and has a population of around 200,000 inhabitants.
A partnership between Américas Amigas and Daiichi Sankyo Brasil, the action began on March 8, 2022, and toured the north, northeast and central-west regions of the country, bringing free breast cancer detection and diagnosis tests to around 4,000 low-income women aged 40 and over.
Despite the premature interruption, by March 17, 724 women had received care at the Mobile Unit of the Patrocínio Cancer Hospital, where they underwent free mammography and ultrasound tests.
