The Women Friends action is part of the Americas Friends Program for the Donation of Breast Cancer Detection and Diagnosis Tests and takes place throughout the year throughout Brazil. In addition to donating exams at partner clinics, laboratories and hospitals, the action includes services provided by Mobile Units, which travel to cities all over Brazil.
About the Women Friends Pink October and TJCC 2022 actions
Starting at the end of September, the Mobile Unit's journey in the state of São Paulo lasted until the beginning of December 2022. There were 83 days of travel and 61 days of service, bringing information, detection and diagnosis of breast cancer to the populations and communities of Real Park, Paraisópolis, Carapicuíba, Jundiaí, Guarulhos, Mauá, Ferraz de Vasconcelos, Potim and São Sebastião, as well as assistance to women deprived of their liberty and guards at the COREMETRO women's penitentiaries in São Paulo and COREVALI in Tremembé, in the interior of the state.
Women Friends Action at TJCC
Made possible thanks to an unprecedented partnership between Américas Amigas, the Todos Juntos Contra o Câncer Movement and the pharmaceutical company Daiichi SankyoBrasil, the Mulheres Amigas initiative arrived at the TJCC in 2022. During the 7th Todos Juntos Contra o Câncer congress, women from the Real Park communities and outsourced employees of the WTC complex had access to free mammography tests. The initiative also allowed congress participants to visit the Mobile Unit and learn about the work carried out by Américas Amigas.
SPECIAL THANKS
Here's our well-deserved tribute to MerulaSteagall, creator of the Todos Juntos Contra o Câncer (All Together Against Cancer) movement, president and founder of the Brazilian Lymphoma Association (Abrale). Her tireless work to improve health conditions in our country was an example and an inspiration for our efforts and the certainty that together we can save many lives.
Complexo do Alemão is located in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro, is made up of fifteen communities and has a population of around 200,000 inhabitants.
A partnership between Américas Amigas and Daiichi Sankyo Brasil, the action began on March 8, 2022, and toured the north, northeast and central-west regions of the country, bringing free breast cancer detection and diagnosis tests to around 4,000 low-income women aged 40 and over.
Despite the premature interruption, by March 17, 724 women had received care at the Mobile Unit of the Patrocínio Cancer Hospital, where they underwent free mammography and ultrasound tests.
