Women Friends Donation of Breast Cancer Detection & Diagnosis Exams at UNIFESP
During the month of October the Mulheres Amigas Campaign offered breast cancer detection and diagnosis exams at the Mastology Outpatient Clinic of the Escola Paulista de Medicina - Universidade Federal de São Paulo, UNIFESP.
The exams were scheduled for the weekends following all the necessary care protocol because of the pandemic.
The action took place on 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 and 25 October, from 8am to 4pm and served almost 300 women who had the exams and left with the results in their hands.
Complexo do Alemão is located in the northern zone of Rio de Janeiro, is made up of fifteen communities and has a population of around 200,000 inhabitants.
A partnership between Américas Amigas and Daiichi Sankyo Brasil, the action began on March 8, 2022, and toured the north, northeast and central-west regions of the country, bringing free breast cancer detection and diagnosis tests to around 4,000 low-income women aged 40 and over.
Despite the premature interruption, by March 17, 724 women had received care at the Mobile Unit of the Patrocínio Cancer Hospital, where they underwent free mammography and ultrasound tests.
