Learn about the treatments for breast cancer in its 4 stages

For the successful treatment of any disease, it is important that it be detected early. In the case of breast cancer, medical follow-up and regular exams, such as mammography, can guarantee the clear identification of the disease.

Once the cancer is diagnosed, its treatment is carried out based on the type and stage it is in. In this article, we will discuss breast cancer treatments for each of its four most common stages of development.

The treatments for breast cancer

When the disease is diagnosed, it is necessary to adopt treatments for breast cancer with commitment and dedication, and that the patient can follow all the indications of his doctor.

One of the main ways to fight against the disease is not to let yourself get down, because it causes a worsening of the condition due to the stress related to the process.

All doubts must be clarified so that the patient knows how to act with more tranquillity.

All the treatments to be adopted have two scenarios: either medication and clinical care or even surgical intervention. The aim, in addition to preserving the patient's life, is to save as much of the breast as possible.

In these cases, reparative plastic surgery is part of the treatment, in order to reduce the trauma.

Treatments vary from case to case, being specific to each type of disease, stage and person.

It is important to highlight that all cancer treatment has a government protocol defined in the National Policy for Cancer Prevention and Control, which must be followed by the State and Municipal Health Secretariats.

The four stages of breast cancer treatment

Breast cancer treatments address four stages of identifying the disease, namely:

Stage 1

This first stage, which involves the treatments for breast cancer , has more moderate procedures, as the disease is still in its initial stages and, therefore, its monitoring is more assiduous and the use of less aggressive medication is indicated.

In this phase it is important to carry out containment actions to prevent the disease from spreading and its action is restricted to the small area initially affected, so it can succeed in controlling the advance of the disease.

Stage 2

At this stage the tumours begin to be larger than in stage 1 and show dissemination in some lymphomas that are identified in nearby areas.

Stage 3

Here, tumour growth occurs in areas close to the beginning of the disease, where chemotherapy sessions or other systemic treatment is carried out to try to stop the disease from progressing.

It can be considered the stage in which the most effective therapeutic treatments begin and can evolve to surgery and radiotherapy.

Stage 4

This stage points to advanced breast cancer, and drugs should be administered that work throughout the body and that can inhibit the progression of the disease to other organs.

This is the stage in which hormone therapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy procedures are included.

These are all actions aimed at restoring the balance of the body's functions and prolonging the patient's life.

Final considerations on breast cancer treatments

The stages of treatment for breast cancer are very strict and must be followed with total commitment, both by the patients and the assisting doctors, in order to achieve a successful result.

It is important to always maintain a routine of periodic health assessments to prevent diseases from appearing more easily and thus avoid having to set out for more time-consuming healing treatments.

As we saw in the article, the more prevention and the earlier the disease is identified, the simpler the treatment is. Therefore, performing mammograms annually is decisive in saving the lives of patients with breast cancer in development, or who wish to be free from the risk of this disease.
