A truck equipped with a mammography device from the Hospital de Patrocínio, a municipality in Alto Paranaíba, plans to travel around 54 cities in Minas Gerais performing free breast cancer detection exams. Women between 50 and 69 years old can participate.
The initiative started in Patrocínio and has already passed through Campos Altos. Until next Tuesday (19), the truck will serve women from Pratinha before heading to Sacramento, where it will remain until the 29th of this month. All the municipalities belong to the Alto Paranaíba region.
The exams are open to women between 50 and 69 years old who have not had mammograms in the last two years. The scheduling will be made at the Basic Health Units of the municipalities.
The initiative is from the NGO Américas Amigas, which promotes breast cancer prevention actions. The organization was the one that donated the equipment to Patrocínio Hospital.
Despite planning to tour 54 cities, the truck is still waiting for approval from local hospitals and health units to confirm its presence in the next cities.
